and what it taught me.

What I do

I build and run digital businesses across AI, data and property, and I write about what makes a business work. Most of my career has been spent close to complex systems, where technology, data and human judgement all have to hold together at once.

That work pushed me somewhere uncomfortable. Better technology does not create a better business. I have watched well-run organisations buy excellent tools and still struggle, because nobody ever made the design underneath them deliberate.

What I believe

Growth is not a repair strategy. More marketing, more technology, more people and more automation do not fix a weak foundation. They load it. The businesses that scale cleanly were designed on purpose, years before anyone noticed them growing.

That shows up in everything I build. Every venture starts from the same five questions about problem, value, trust, systems and learning, and each one is my attempt to answer them honestly.

How I work

I would rather ship something a customer understands and trusts than something technically impressive that leaves them unsure. AI is the most useful tool I have worked with in twenty years. It is also the most routinely misapplied, usually to speed up a process that needed redesigning instead.
